The Silent Killers in Construction – Part 1: Intro
What has changed in a year’s time? A lot may have changed in the construction sector, but much has still remained the same. Our national unemployment rate is still too high; there are more federal and state regulations and labor laws that employers must comply with; gas prices continue to be in flux; there are more OSHA inspectors in the state of Texas looking to hand out fines; many company’s SUTA (state unemployment tax) rates have increased; the majority of construction company’s overall labor costs have increased; and the list goes on… Let’s face it; it’s not getting any easier to run your business! Now for a little good news! Texas has created more jobs than any other state over the past year.
With all that being said, I like to look at the glass as half full and am one who focuses on positive solutions to the problems that contractors face.
